Designed With An Eye For Flavor

Sumtious FoodWhen we talk about fine dining, we know presentation is every bit as important as the flavors. The experience should provide a feast for the eyes as well as the palette. Chef Diego Munoz fully understands this key concept as he releases a series of images for his new tasting menu at Astrid Y Gaston.

Though he has been the head chef at Astrid Y Gaston for the past three years, with the recent official retirement of owner Gaston Acurio, the spotlight is now clearly focused on Chef Munoz. This menu clearly illustrates he is up to the task at hand. “The menu starts with sweet treats that mimic the afternoon desserts often enjoyed when children in Peru return from school.”  [Click on link below to: READ MORE…]

Duck For Fine Dining

Duck Leg and CherriesFor some food is something you eat to keep from starving. For others it is a sole stirring experience which is a feast both for the eyes as well as the palate. If you fall into the latter group and have the opportunity to visit Silicon Valley, Le Papillon is a must stop destination.

Le Papillon recently served as the venue for the Silicon Valley Bailliage dinner. “Executive Chef Scott Cooper’s culinary talents always impress, and his innovative dishes reflect his passion for and dedication to serving world-class cuisine.” This particular event held true to the form and standards expected of this fine chef. The hors d’oeuvres were all beautifully plated and presented.

Over the course of the next 5 courses diners were presented with marvels ranging from “grapefruit-cured Arctic char with smoked roe” to “duck leg pave with sour cherries and Shimeji mushrooms” and finished with “strawberry vacherin with marzipan and lemon balm.”

The whole of the experience left those in attendance well pleased with the overall artful presentation of the meal. The overall effect was a stunning meal which left the guest with a new appreciation of the term culinary art. An excellent meal any true gastronome would be fortunate to experience.
